Description

The historic 80+ year old and infamous lower east side "169 Bar" (aka "Bloody Bucket", "Bucket Of Blood") located on the edge of chinatown at Essex and Canal and only a 10 minute walk south on Essex from Houston and Ave A (169 East Broadway, "F" Train stop). The 169 Bar specializes in in-house DJ music consisting New Orleans type funk (aka Meters et. al.) and its prodigy, amoungst others... "Deep Funk" rare grooves and jams. Also Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones, Elvis Presely, Bridget Bardot, LuLu, Nancy Sinatra, Serge Gainbourg, Leonard Cohen, Be-Bop, Big Band, Swing. 

No longer (as much..lol) a den of gangs, prostitutes and thugs... 169 Bar now hosts a variety of live musical performers of local and international talent specializing in acoustic music of all genres: world, funk, r&b, folk, latin, jazz, bluegrass to name a few.
